Rodrick's Booth
Project Type: Commercial
Photographer: Camille Esquivel
Rodrick’s Booth is a personalized coconut stand for Rodrick Brown, a food vendor at Flatbush Central and a community pillar to the East Flatbush neighborhood in Brooklyn. A+A+A worked closely with Rodrick and Urbane Development to create a flexible and mobile space that reflects Rodrick’s character and his role in the community – bringing a little bit of the Caribbean to the neighborhood.
This 64 SF stand functions as a mobile structure that unfolds and opens during the day, and is easily tucked away at night. It is equipped with Rodrick’s tools and equipment, allowing him to prepare and sell fresh coconuts, coconut water, sugar cane juice and jackfruit. In addition, the booth was designed to function for most of the year and into the colder months with the addition of a retractable roof, heating elements and wind shield walls.
